New S-tri:methoxy-benzoyl-N-acetyl-cysteine - with mucoregulatory activity, e.g. for treating bronchitis

S-(3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoyl)-N-acetyl cysteine of formula (I) and its salts with alkali or alkaline earth metals or with basic amino acids (e.g. Lys, Arg or His) are new. (I) is made by reacting N-acetylcysteine (II) with a reactive deriv. esp the acyl halide, of 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzoic acid. Reaction is under anhydrous conditions pref. in presence of acid acceptor.
