<p>Solns. contain, as stabiliser, a polyalkoxylated fatty amine of formula (II). Q is 12-22C aliphatic hydrocarbyl; m and n are integers totalling 2-50; Y is SO3H;M is H, alkali metal, NH4 or amine cation. Pref. (II) have Q as 14-22C alk(en)yl; esp. tallow fatty amine residue; m and n total 4-12(6-8) and M is H, alkali metal or esp. NH4. Brighteners (I) are esp. bis-triazinylamino or bio-stilbene disulphonic acids, e.g cpds. (R5 is H, 1-5C alkyl or alkoxy halo or SO3M; R6 is H or 1-4C alkyl). Solns. are stable to metal ions and metal catalyst, e.g. those present in hard water or introduced with textile finishing crosslinking agents. They are claimed for brightening paper, either in the mass or in surface coatings, but can also be applied to natural or synthetic fibres.</p> |
