PURPOSE:To prevent the defect of a welding bead together with the accuracy elevation in bend work by providing a notch in lateral direction on the surface of a strip shaped plane steel plate. CONSTITUTION:Plural V shaped notch 2 or U shaped notch 3 is provided on the surface of the backing plates 1, 1' consisting of a strip shaped plane steel plate. The backing plate 1 having plural V shaped notches 2 is provisionally fitted in a correct projecting dimension with abutting over the whole length of the welding of a tubular column, etc. for welding after its bend work in the necessary curve. The backing plate 1' having a U shaped notch 3 is provisionally fitted to the inner face of the joining part with performing a correct bend work in right angles. The correct bend work of the backing plates 1, 1' is made easy with this method and so a good welding bead without defects can be obtd. |
