Locking device with multiple functions for mounting a tyre to the rim of a wheel of the dismantlable type. This device comprises an annular sleeve made of elastomer, which encircles the rim, which has a horizontal dimension which is greater, of the order of 5 to 9%, than the internal space which separates the heels of the said tyre and which comprises an annular structure 4 from which at least two projections 5, 6 protrude, which are spaced from one another, directed towards the internal face of the tyre opposite the rim, this sleeve further comprises an opening 14 to allow the passage of air, and a continuous peripheral layer of reinforcement 13 incorporated in the said annular structure so as to render the sleeve inextensible so as to maintain a constant external diameter of the said sleeve.
