<p>N-Dodecyl N-(2-acetamido 2-desoxy D-glucopyranosyl) dodecanoamide (Ia) and N-dodecyl N-(D-ribopyranosyl) dodecanoamide (Ib) are new. - Animal growth promoters comprise cpds. of formula Z-NR2-COR1 (I), where: Z= a glycosyl gp. bonded via the anomeric C atom; R1=H or an opt. substd. 1-30C straight- or branched-chain, satd. or mono- or polyunsatd. hydrocarbon gp. opt. interrupted by O, N or S; R2=H or a 1-30C straight- or branched-chain, satd. or mono- or polyunsatd. alkyl or aralkyl gp. opt. interrupted by O or substd. by O-contg. gps. or halogen; provided that COR1 is not 1-5C acyl when R2=10-20C alkyl.</p> |
