<p>Compsn. comprises a water-insoluble quat. ammonium salt (I) and a nonionic surfactant (II) contg. at least one higher alkyl or fatty acid substit. and a highly dipolar hydrophilic gp. Pref. (II) are phosphine oxides, sulphoxides and tert. amine oxides and the wt. tio (II):(I) is from 1.7 to below 0.5. - Pref. (I) have three at least 8C alkyl. The compsn. is applied, after dilution with water, to keratin fibres e.g. by exhaustion methods to yarn, roving, slubbing and loose stock, or as a foam or spray to piece goods and carpets. - The compsns. impart antistatic properties and have a lower soiling tendency than known compsns. contg. polyethers. Esp. they are applied to woolen carpets (in place or during mfr.) and show a high level of permanence and durability to wear and wet cleaning.
