The regenerative turbomachine comprises a bladed rotor (11) surrounded by a housing (10) defining an annular fluid flow channel with inlet (16) and outlet ports. The working fluid is guided from the inlet port by a slip flow (1DS,19,20) path and a counter-flow path (2DC,19,20). - Each flow path makes successive axial passes through the blading (13). In the slip flow path, successive passes reintroduce the fluid to the rotor at positions successively, circumferentially spaced in the direction of rotation. In the counter-flow path the fluid is similarly reintroduced in positions spaced in the opposite direction.
