The process comprises lixiviation of the conc. contg. 5-30 percent of solids with soln. of sulphur and alkali hydroxide in concns. of not less than 5 and 3 M respectively. The lixiviation temp. is between 70 degrees C and the b. pt. of the soln., so that the As, Sb, Sn and Hg are solubilised through thiosalt formation, followed by redn. with metallic aluminium or its alloys in proportion not less than 80 percent, in the low specific surface subdivision state at a temp. between ambient and b. pt. of the medium.
