<p>The process comprises reaction of ethyl 4-thiazole-carboxylate of formula (II) with isopropylamine to produce N-isopropyl-4-thiazolecar boxamide of formula (III). This undergoes condensation reaction with 12-phenylene diamine of formula (IV) in the presence of surplus polyphosphoric acid, to give 4-(2-benzimidazolyl)-thiazole of formula (I) with a 50% lethal dose of 3300-3850 mg/kg, the non-effect level being 40 mg/kg/day.</p> |
