<p>The process comprises thermal decomposition of the diterbutylic ester of formula (II) in solvent such as xylene at 50-150 deg.C. The reaction is completed in anhydrous medium and requires the presence of acid such as benzenosulphonic acid acting as a catalyst. - The mixt. is then poured onto water, the organic soln. of the prod. is washed, and distn. gives acid of formula (I) which can be converted into sodium or potassium salt.</p> |
