The cast cylinder of a two-stroke engine has overflow ducts (5) in the cylinder wall. Each has a longitudinally upwardly extending portion (5a) from the crank case and a curved transition (5b) to a cross-section (5c) at the part (4) in the cylinder wall. - The cylinder consists of two separate light-alloy pressure diecastings, one (2) fitting inside the other (1) with a transverse parting plane (3) through the parts (4) and adjoining duct sections (5c) The outer part (1) contains the upper portion of the piston contact surface, the cooling jacket or fins (6) and the outer boundaries of the ducts (5) whilst the inner part (2) contains the lower portion of the piston contact surface and the inner duct boundaries.
