<p>In an appts. for purifying blood, blood is passed through a hollow fibre plasma separator (11) and the resultant plasma is then purified and subsequently recombined with the blood. Blood to be purified is supplied to the inlet (12) of the separator (11) so as to flow through the fibres (14) thereof. Sepd. plasma is collected in reservoir (17) surrounding the fibres and is discharged therefrom via outlet (19) adjacent the blood inlet end of the separator (11). The sepd. plasma is then pumped (24) to plasma purifier (25) and purified plasma recycled to the plasma reservoir (17) through inlet (20) adjacent the blood outlet end (13) of the separator (11). The recycled, purified plasma then passes through the fibres (14) back into the blood.</p> |
