摘要 The glow plug has an insulating cylindrical substrate (22) comprising an internal and external portion. The internal portion (28) lies between one end of a metal shell (12) and an electrical terminal (36). The external portion (30) protrudes from the shell and terminal. The terminal lies axially inside the cylindrical metal shell and is insulated from it. - A resistive surface film heater (24) lies between the terminal and shell and is located on the surface of the external portion near to the end of the substrate. A conducting surface film (56) lies on the external surface of the substrate and connects one end of the heater to the shell. A second conducting surface film (58) lies on the internal surface of a concentric hole (26) in the substrate and connects the other end of the heater to the terminal. The member has a film element disposed on at least one surface of a nonconductive cylindrical substrate. Electrical connections between the heater element, the shell and the axial electrode are made by conductive surface films. - One of the surface films is disposed on the external surface of the substrate, makes electrical contact with the shell. A second film disposed on the internal surface of the substrate makes contact with the axial terminal. The heating element is preferably a transition metal surface film which catalytically reacts with the air/fuel mixture to enhance combustion at lower temperatures.
