Encoding system for optically recorded data

In the recording process is provided the division of the series of binary data bits into blocks of M bits each. There are blocks which are encoded in (n1 +n2) channel bits (N - n1+n2 being greater than M), and channel bit blocks which each include a block of n1 information bits, and a block of n2 separation bits. - An imbalance of the direct current is determined w.r.t. the data bits and the separation bits. The separation bits are chosen such that the current imbalance is minimal. The blocks of (n1+n2) channel bits are then recorded on the optical data support. Blocks which do not satisfy specific step-by-step criteria are subject to a process of interference.
