Prodn. of strontium bearing ferro-silicon or silicon alloys with low Al and C content by combining a strontium cpd. with an earth alkali alloy or calcium carbide as a redn. agent in the molten ferro-silicon bath. The strontium bearing ferro silicon improves the structure and properties of cast iron.
