Cephalosporin derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1=a gp. of formula (a) or (b); R7 and R8=H, halo, OH, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, NO2, NH2, 1-4C alkanoylamino or 1-4C alkylsulphonylamino; or R7+R8=methylenedioxy; A=B=H; or A+B=a bond; R2=H, amino protecting gp., OH or MeO; R3=H; or R2+R3= C(M)(L); M and L=1-4C alkyl; R4=H, MeO or MeS; R5=H, MeO, Me, halo, methoxymethyl or vinyl; R6=H or a carboxy protecting gp.; provided that (i) R2=OH or MeO only when A+B=bond and (ii) A=B=H when R3 is other than H. - Pref. R2=MeO or R2+R3=CML. R7 and R8=H, halo, OH, 1-4C alkoxy, NO2 or NH2. R5=Me, Cl- MeO, H, MeOCH2 or vinyl. R4=R6=H.
