PURPOSE:To prevent toner from entering the inside of a contact part between a brush and a photosensitive substance and to improve the uniformity of charging by using an electret fiber for the inlet part of the contact part of the brush which is in contact with the photosensitive substance. CONSTITUTION:An electret fiber is used for the inlet part 3a of the conductive brush 3 and a generally used material is used for other parts 3b. A pile fabric obtained by implanting the parts 3a, 3b is adhered to a base board 1 with an adhesive agent or the like so that the part 3a is arranged at a place closer to the inlet part of the contact part than the part 3b when the brush 3 is in contact with the photoconductive substance 2. In the electret processing, an electret film 6 parmanently charged to positive polarity at its one side and negative polarity at the other side is slit by a slitting instrument having many cutters to be formed like fibers. The formed electret fiber 5 is woven like piles and adhered to the base board 1 with the adhesive agent or the like to form a brush charging device. |
