PURPOSE:To turn a photosensitive drum only by the required minimum number of times of revolution and to expand the life of the photosensitive drum and that of a magnetic substance contained in a developer by stopping the drum immediately after the end of cleaning of the back end of a developer adhered part form on the drum. CONSTITUTION:Transfer paper 101 or 102 in a selected cassette out of paper feeding cassettes 91, 92 is delivered in the direction of a resistration roller 12 by a feed roller 111 or 112 and temporally stopped. The transfer paper is delivered again from the resistration roller 12 at a timing when the leading end of the transfer paper coincides with the leading end of a developed image on the photosensitive drum 6 and the developed image on the surface of the drum 6 is transferred to the delivered transfer paper by a transfer pole 13 to which a high DC voltage is applied. The drum 6 is prevented from useless process revolution, so that the drum 6 is stopped immediately after the back end of the developer adhered part formed on the drum 6.
