PURPOSE:To provide a serial printer enabled in printing generating no pitch shift even in both of the positive direction movement and reverse direction movement of a head, by correcting pitch shift by detecting the intensity of light from a light source due to the moving distance of said light source. CONSTITUTION:A light source 3 is provided to a carriage 2 while an optical sensor 7 is provided to a printer unit 10. The distance between both of them is detected by the signals therefrom to be converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter 8 while said digital signal is supplied to a printing position correction part 6 where compared with the moving amount of a printing head 1 outputted from a printing control part 5 to feed back the deference between both of them to the printing control part 5. The output from this control part 5 is sent to a spacing motor control part 4. |
