PURPOSE:To suppress the increase in internal resistance of a solid electrolyte battery during its storage by using a negative electrode prepared by mixing lithium with aluminum oxide powder and a positive electrode composed of an iodine complex to form a solid electrolyte layer in the interface between the positive and the negative electrodes. CONSTITUTION:A negative electrode 1 is prepared by mixing 100 molar parts of lithium with 5-70 molar parts of aluminum oxide powder. The thus prepared negative electrode 1 is placed facing a positive electrode 2, which consists of an iodine complex prepared by mixing poly-2-vinylpyridine into iodine, to form a solid electrolyte layer 6 between the electrodes 1 and 2 thereby constituting a solid electrolyte battery. The solid electrolyte layer 6 formed during storage of the battery, consists of a mixture of sodium iodide and aluminum oxide and highly conducts lithium ions. Accordingly, the internal resistance of the battery can be reduced and its preservation performance can be increased by mixing a specified amount of aluminum oxide powder into lithium. |
