PURPOSE:To control the density of copying as desires even in the direction of width of an original by controlling the quantity of light emission of an original illuminating device for each width of lighting according to the result of detection of density of the original. CONSTITUTION:The density of the original is detected by preliminary scanning and the result of detection is stored in a RAM incorporated in a CPU. Basing on the content of the memory, the quantity of light emission of LED for each lighting width of an LED array 700 for illuminating an original consisting of many LEDs 701-730 and of controllable lighting width is controlled according to light emission duty ratio control through the CPU, and control of density of copying is made possible in the direction of width of the original. |
