PURPOSE:To make unnecessary to exchange holder depending on the neck size when an exhaust pipe at the neck of a cathode-ray tube is sealed up, by furnishing an external heater as well as providing a gas burner around the exhaust pipe, so as to control a gas burner lighting. CONSTITUTION:As well as a nozzle 10 opened to a gas cylinder is furnished on the holder 6 fixed with a stem lead 4 and exhaust pipe 3 at the neck of a cathode-ray tube bulb 1, an external heater 11 connected in series to a heater H of the electron gun 5 is arranged close to the exhaust pipe 3. And, while gas in the holder 1 is exhausted through the exhaust pipe 3, the cathode and electrode are degased by bombarder 8, and by energizing the heater H, the, gas through the nozzle 10 is lighted at the external heater 11, so as to seal up the exhaust pipe 3. Therefore, the process can be made easier because the holder need not to be exchanged even though diameter of the neck is different, as well as the lighting system is simplified. |
