PURPOSE:To provide a roller bearing which can be used as a free side bearing and easily attached and detached by coupling the end portion 1 of an inner race and a collar fixed to a shaft by a coupling mechanism having axially expansible means. CONSTITUTION:The end portion 1 of a pillow bearing unit fitted with a clearance to a shaft and a collar 2 which is disposed on the same axis as an inner race and fixed to the shaft by a set screw 3 are coupled to each other in such a manner as to be axially expansible by a coupling mechanism A. The coupling mechanism A comprises a projection piece 4 formed on the end portion 1 of the inner race and a concave portion 5 which is formed on the collar 2 and engaged with the projection piece, wherein as the engagement surface is formed by a plane parallel to the shaft axis, the engagement surface can be smoothly slided during rotation of the shaft. |
