PURPOSE:To easily adjust backlash of a differential gear by holding a collar, which axially supports a bearing, inside a differential gear case as that the collar can be mounted and dismounted and by adjusting said collar. CONSTITUTION:A differential gear 1 is split left and right at the approximately middle part thereof and mounted inside a housing 2 having side walls 2a and 2b which are opposed to each other. Shaft pipes 16 are connected to the housing 2 at the right and the left side thereof. Inside those shaft pipes 16, one end of each of axles 17 which drive wheels not illustrated in the drawing is joined with the boss 11a of a large differential gear 11 by use of the spline joint method. A small differential gear 12 has a shorter diameter than the large differential gear 11 and axially supported by a collar 14. Said collar 14 is held as it can be engaged and disengaged in and from the through-hole 13 of a differential gear box 8. Adjustment of backlash can be attained by increasing and decreasing the thickness of a shim 20.
