PURPOSE:To simply and surely fix a fitting member to a shaft, by pressing the fitting member for the shaft in the direction orthogonal to the shaft to subject the metal material of the member to plastic flow so that the member is fixed to the shaft. CONSTITUTION:A housing 1 bears a shaft 3 through the intermediary of an oil containing metal 2. In this arrangement a plurality of V-grooves 6 are formed in the shaft 3, and knurled parts 7 are formed in crest parts thereof. Further, the housing 1 is pressed by means of splines 10, 11 in the direction P, R after a plug 8 is fitted in a hole 9 formed in a pinion 5, so that the wall of the plug 8 is subjected to plastic flow to be wedged into the V-grooves 6. With this arrangement the pinion 5 may be simply and surely fixed to the shaft 3. |
