PURPOSE:To form the smooth coating surface of a work without the ruggedness and pinholes of the coating surface in the stage of coating a hard material, etc. by electric discharge to the surface of the work by moving and oscillating relatively an electrode for a coating material and the surface of the work in a specific direction in synchronization with the content and separation of the electrode. CONSTITUTION:The electrode 1 for a coating material formed by sintering hard WC with Co as a binder is rotated at a high speed around the axis by a motor 5 in the stage of contacting and separating said electrode 1 to and from the surface of the work 2 and subjecting the work to electric discharge coating. The bound part 8 of the electrode 1 is fixed to the free end of an oscillating piece made of a spring material attached with an iron piece 6b and the intermittent excitation of the prescribed frequency from an electric power source 9 is applied to a coil 7a to oscillate vertically the electrode 1 and the electric discharge is executed while the electrode is contacted and separated to and from the work. A work table 10 on which the work 2 is imposed is at the same time moved by motors M1, M2 in the directions X and Y at intervals of >=1/2 the diameter. The hard coating film by the sintered WC electrode 1 is formed as the smooth coating without knurling and pinholes on the surface of the work 2. |
