PURPOSE:To enhance the efficiency of electric discharge machining, by moving a plurality of wire or tape electrodes through a guide passage in a processing position where an electrode guide movable relative to a workpiece faces it. CONSTITUTION:A servomechanism, which is regulated by a numerical controller, is operated to move the axis of a movable arm 7 relative to a workpiece in directions X, Y, Z while keeping the axis in a prescribed orientation, to place wire electrodes 8A-8C near the workpiece immersed in a processing liquid to set a prescribed processing gap between the workpiece and the wire electrodes. An electric discharge processing power unit is put in operation to apply voltage pulses between the workpiece and the wire electrodes 8A-8C to cause discharge therebetween to machine the workpiece. Since the workpiece is processed as the prescribed processing gap is kept between the workpiece and the three wire electrodes, the processed area of the workpiece can be made large to enhance the efficiency of the processing, especially enable the completion of rough mechining in a short time. |
