PURPOSE:To enable accurate tapering with a wire electrode, by converting an axis distance in the direction of the face of a workpiece into an axis distance in a direction perpendicular to the tapered surface of the workpiece, and by calculating wire electrode passage data from the latter axis distance and programmed passage data. CONSTITUTION:The distance RC between the tapered surface TS of a workpiece WK and the axis of a wire electrode WR in the direction of the face WS of the workpiece is determined as RC=R/costheta1 where theta1 denotes the angle of the inclination of the wire electrode and R denotes the distance between the tapered surface of the workpiece and the axis of the wire electrode in a direction perpendicular to the tapered surface. The axis of the wire electrode WR is placed at the distance RC from the workpiece in the direction of the face thereof to accurately taper the workpiece. The inclination angle theta1 and the distance R= r+g where r denotes the radius of the wire electrode and g denotes the discharge gap between the workpiece and the wire electrode are put in the above- mentioned formula RC=R/costheta1 to calculate the distance RC. The accurate tapering is thus enabled. |
