<p>METALLIC WIRING BOX An electrical wiring box structure comprises a formed metal box structure having first and second endwalls, first and second sidewalls, and a rear wall interconnected to form a chamber for receiving a wiring device. A wiring device mounting portion is provided as a part of the endwalls of the box or, in an alternative embodiment, as a member comprising a flat leg portion adapted to lie along the inside surface of the box endwall and adapted to be secured to the box endwall. A wiring device mounting portion of the member is formed substantially at right angles to the leg portion, and extends outwardly from the box endwall. An H-shaped cut in the mounting portion divides the portion into opposed, flexible tab portions which terminate in screw-engaging tips, spaced apart by a distance less than the outside diameter of the wiring device mounting screw. Insertion of the mounting screw between the flexible tabs deflects the tabs downward and apart from one another to permit the facile push-insertion of the screw into the mounting member. Turning the mounting screw draws the tab portions upward and together to firmly engage the wiring device mount screw.</p> |
