The steering lock has a spring loaded bolt (6) which normally rests in a blocking position in the steering column and which is pulled out of the blocking position by the ignition lock barrel (5) via a cam (27). The barrel is mounted inside the housing on a cylindrical bearing for axial and rotational movement. A profiled slot (15) between the bearing and the housing is formed by a segment and a ball bearing (12) which ensure that the key has to be fully withdrawn before the bolt can drop into place.
