<p>The pump has two vertical cylinders (12, 14). Each has a suction inlet (24, 26) at the bottom with a non return valve (36, 38) and a delivery outlet (44, 46) at the top also with nonreturn valves (54, 56). There is a reciprocating piston (16, 18) in each cylinder. The pistons project out of the top of the cylinders and are linked by a cross arm (20) which is pivoted at its centre (22). The arm is given an oscillating motion which causes the pistons to reciprocate so that one rises as the other falls. The inlets are fed from a common pipe (32) from a container (34) above the cylinders and the outlets are joined to a common discharge (52) which contains a pressure raising throttling orifice (62).</p> |
