Articles are displaced from a first station to a zone adjacent a second station where they accumulate and are then selectively discharged to the second station. A series of carrier frames are selectively spaced between the first and second stations. A series of pairs of 'U'-section inner and outer members are spaced from one another and are carried by the frames so as to define a displacement path between the two stations. Pairs of uprights extend above the 'U'-section members.
