PURPOSE:To let a photographer know that tracking operation is off currently by providing a means which warns that a subject to be tracked moves away from the center part of a photographic image plane beyond a specific range in such a case. CONSTITUTION:When the subject goes out of the photographic image plane or limit area as the specific area in it, a limit area setting circuit 18 is controlled with a horizontal synchronizing signal fH and a vertical synchronizing signal fV generated by a synchronizing signal generating circuit 10 to set the limit area BA according to photographer's settings. The limit area BA is provided so as to perform tracking operation within the area, and an arithmetic circuit 19 decides whether the current position of a tracking visual filed is within a manually set limit area BA or not according to output signals of the limit area setting circuit 18 and a gate moving circuit 6. Then, when the circuit decides that the position of the tracking visual field, therefore, the position of the tracked subject on the image plane goes out of the limit area BA, the tracking visual field is returned to an initial position, e.g. position corresponding to the center part of the photographic image plane. |
