The device reads the value of a high electric current in an electrical or electronic circuit. It comprises a shunt resistor capable of carrying the current. The resultant voltage drop across the terminals of the resistor is transmitted to an operational amplifier, the output signal from which can be used by an instrument for measurement, protection or control or in a current-regulating loop.
