The sliding-type knee-joint prosthesis comprises femoral (10) and tibial (11) portions. Each has a guide section (29) allowing bending movement in the sagittal plane. One of the guide sections (29) turns on the portion (11) which it guides, so as to allow the two portions to turn in a plane at right angles to the sagittal one. Typically this can be on the tibial portion, while the guide sections can comprise a groove in the femoral portion and a protrusion on the tibial one.
