PURPOSE:To prevent a photosensitive body from being contaminated, by heating a discharge member for executing a discharge and applying a prescribed potential to an amorphous silicon photosensitive body, for a prescribed time after starting the discharge, and after ending the discharge, and resolving a harmful product. CONSTITUTION:A discharge member 3 is placed so as to be opposed to a photosensitive body 4, and has a dielectric 5, an induction electrode 6, and a discharge electrode 7. AC is impressed to the induction electrode 6 and the discharge electrode 7 by an AC power source 9. The discharge member 3 has a resistor 8 and it is heated by a current from a heating power source 10. The photosensitive body 4 is constituted of amorphous silicon having a photoconductive material 4b of an insulating property, on a conductive mateial base body 4a, and turns in the direction as indicated with an arrow. A bias voltages Vb is impressed between the conducive material base body 4a and the discharge electrode 7. A discharge is generated from the discharge electrode by raising a voltage between the induction electrode 6 and the discharge electrode 7, and positive and negative ions are selected by controlling a Vb. In this way, by pre-heating or post- heating, a discharge product is decreased, a contamination of the photosensitive body is prevented, and a variation of a characteristic of the photosensitive body is prevented. |
