NEW MATERIAL:A compound expressed by the formula (R is lower alkyl). USE:Usable for adhesives, molded articles, sealing compounds, etc. by copolymerization with a thermosetting resin, e.g. epoxy resin, and also as an intermediate for organic synthesis, solvents, etc. PREPARATION:Pentaerythritol is dissolved in an orthoformic acid ester expressed by the formula H-C-(OR)3, and reacted in the presence of an acidic catalyst, e.g. sulfuric acid or dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid, usually at 50-300 deg.C under ordinary - higher pressure. |
