The device according to the invention comprises a movable control unit which can be coupled up to a movable control member, and a chain for transmitting control motion to a movable contact holder 4 of an opening contact C1 and to a movable contact holder 5 of a closing contact C2 and to a chronometer element which causes the switching of the said contacts C1, C2 after a certain time following the application of the control motion. This device further comprises means 40 to 49 enabling a time offset to be produced between the switching of the contact C1 and that of the contact C2.
