The invention relates to large width bodywork especially intended to equip a lorry, trailer, or semi-trailer. According to the invention, the large width bodywork 1 essentially having a chassis 3 supporting the body 4 of the trailer, the said chassis 3 mainly comprising two longitudinal members on which the bases of a multitude of cross-members 10 rest, the said body 4 resting on the upper portion of the cross-members 10, is characterised in that it comprises means for insulating and protecting the said cross-members 10 and the underside of the bodywork 1 using a mattress of air which is thus cheaper, and less heavy, by creating a closed space between the upper side of the longitudinal members 6 and the underside of the body 4.
