In the pattern control mechanism of a sewing machine, particularly for automatic buttonhole stitching, only the axis of the swing frame and the shaft for the adjustment roller are used as the mounting points, to give a secure insertion and retraction of the separate cam followers to control the fabric advance adjustment.
