Nail varnish composition of the solvent type containing at least one component chosen from the group consisting of soaps composed of divalent metals and higher fatty acids, divalent metal oxides, fatty acid alkali metal salts, resinic acid metal salts and abietic acid metal salts in a nail varnish base. This nail varnish composition of the solvent type is extremely stable and does not cause any substantial tackiness or coagulation of the contents of the nail varnish bottles when these contents decrease in volume when used daily by the consumer.
