The catalytic converter in the form of a ceramic monolith 7 is arranged in a housing 5, 6, which is composed of sheet metal, for the purpose of exhaust emission control of internal combustion engines. The housing is completely enclosed on its inner side by a steel mesh 8. A mounting, formed as an all-round bead in the housing, serves for fixing the monolith 7. For this purpose the all-round bead 9 serving for its mounting is arranged only in the area of the surface of the one end of the monolith 7. In the remaining area of the surface of the monolith 7, on the other hand, other punctiform and/or non-continuous, linear beads are provided (fig. 3). <IMAGE>
