Antitumour composition whose active constituent rectin is combined, for the purpose of achieving cell fusion, with N-acetyl-D-galactosamine and has a molecular weight of 30,000 &tilde& 100,000 and an isoelectric point of 3.5 &tilde& 5.5. The rectin in this case is obtained from human cells which have taken up human tumour cell leukaemia viruses and/or is obtained from rat cells which have taken up murine leukaemia viruses.
