PURPOSE:To attain the miniaturization, wt. reduction and cost reduction of an apparatus, by utilizing the sliding operation of a carriage having a thermal head mounted thereto. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 1 is mounted to a carriage 3 having a slidable screw push 2 and, when the carriage 3 moved to the right direction while performs printing operation and passes a printing finish position, a clutch R18 and a clutch gear R20 are meshed through a compression spring R16. The rotation of a screw shaft 5 rotates a cam gear L25 through a clutch gear 26. By this method, a slide shaft 4 is pushed up to retract the carriage 3. Further, when the screw shaft 5 is reversed and the carriage 3 is turned back, the clutch R18 and the gear R20 are still contacted immediately after turning-back but, when the clutch surface is formed in an one-way structure and slid so as not to transmit the rotation of the shaft 5 to the gear R20, the carriage 3 is returned from right to left in a retracted state. By this mechanism, the retracting operation of the head is realized by the simple mechanism utilizing the sliding operation of the carriage. |
