PURPOSE:To enable correction of local deflection, by a method wherein plural fluid pressure chambers, being discontinuously forming in a direction, in which they face a mating roll 7 forming a nip in cooperation with the shaft, and having length about equal to the overall length of the roll, are formed, and a shoe device, which is engaged with the pressure chambers, is provided. CONSTITUTION:Fluid pressure chambers 21a-21c, being discontinuously formed throughout the overall length of a mating roll in a direction in which they face a mating roll 7 forming a nip in cooperation with a shaft, are formed in a center shaft 4 securely located so as to prevent from rotation. A shoe device 22, engaged with the fluid pressure chambers 21a-21c, is integrally formed in succession, and lubricating fluid in a roll shell forms a support fluid film which is brought into slide contact with the inner peripheral surface of a shell 6. The fluid pressure chambers 21a-21c are connected to conduits 23a-23c, respectively, which are capable of the feed a fluid pressure. |
