The signal transmitter is fitted to movable objects (e.g. keys) and can be activated by persons without technical aids from some distance. When the signal transmitter is activated, it emits audible and/or visible signals for a specific time period. The object to which the signal transmitter is fitted is thus rendered easier to find. The signal transmitter is provided according to the invention with an acoustic pulse receiver and a digital switching mechanism which are equipped with electromechanical and electronic means in such a way that the arrangement is set to standby in the rest position and that noise signals caused by movement and structure-borne noise are suppressed.
