PURPOSE:To attain the practical processing of an object to be recognized which requires comparatively rough positioning accuracy and high-speed recognition processing by providing a position compensating mask pattern generating circuit with the border point of a mask pattern as its coordinate value. CONSTITUTION:When an object 1 to be recognized is located on a fixed position from a TV camera 2, a control circuit 10 sets the mask pattern of a related area from which the outlined feature or the like of the object 1 to be recognized can be extracted. The mask pattern is stored in a mask pattern memory formed in the position compensating mask pattern generating circuit 8 and the inner area of the reference object to be recognized is measured by an area measuring circuit 9 and stored in the control circuit 10. When individual objects are started to be recognized, the control circuit 10 executes various processings of picture information, finds out the difference between the position of each object and the reference position and sets the difference in the circuit 8 to form a position-compensated mask pattern. Thus, various recognition processing can be attained by measuring the inner area of the mask pattern of picture information and comparing the measured value with a reference measured value. |
