PURPOSE:To enable the cultivation in a medium containing saccharides at high concentration, and to produce nosiheptide in high productivity, by utilizing a specific mutant of a microbial strain capable of producing nosiheptide. CONSTITUTION:A wild strain belonging to Streptomuces genus and capable of producing nosiheptide (e.g. Streptomyces actuosus 2954) is subjected to the mutagenic treatment such as UV-irradiation, and the treated strain is cultured in a plate medium containing 6% glucose for about 5-10 days. The produced colonies are separated, and a strain having high nosiheptide-productivity is selected from the colonies to obtain a mutant resistant to the glucose at a high concentration (about 20-90g/l) and capable of producing nosiheptide [e.g. Streptomyces actuosus U-277 (FERM-P7705)]. The above mutant is cultured aerobically in a medium containing a monosaccharide and/or oligosaccharide at a high concentration, at about 4.5-9pH and about 20-40 deg.C for 10-14 days to obtain nosiheptide.
|
