PURPOSE:To stabilize a discharge of ink droplets at the time of recording through stabilization of an ink supply pressure to be applied to a discharge opening of a recording head by providing a negative pressure chamber filled with a compressive gas via an ink storage chamber and a flexible film. CONSTITUTION:An inner ink container 210 consists of materials such as polyethylene, teflon etc. having an ink resistance and formed into a thin film, and its circular brim portion is contact bonded or fixed by pressure to a cover 207 and a fitting portion of an outer tank 209, and in compliance with a reduction of the ink volume due to an ink discharge the shape of the container may be freely changed and reduced. The outer tank 209 which is shaped to surround the outside is of rigid body and the space provided between the inner ink container 210 and it is hermetically sealed against the atmosphere, and further, the space constitutes a negative pressure chamber 212 with a preliminarily reduced pressure. The degree of the pressure reduction of the chamber 212 is, in relation to an ink retention force based on meniscus surface tension appears at a discharge orifice 202 of the recording head portion 201, established to give a desired ink supply pressure to the ink 211 in the inner container 210. |
