CATALYTIC STRUCTURAL BODY AND ITS PRODUCTION

PURPOSE:To increase the catalytic performance and the catalytic efficiency by making the thickness of a ceramic film thicker in the part speedy in flow velocity of gas passed through a flow path than the part slow in flow velocity and making the deposited quantity of catalytic substances more much in the part speedy in flow velocity than the part slow in flow velocity. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 6 is set concentrically with a carrier 5 on the end face of flow path of the carrier 5 and the ceramic slurry A is thrown down into the cylinder 6 and the ceramic film is formed on the central part of the carrier 5 by removing the excess slurry, drying and calcining the ceramic slurry. This process is performed in combination with the process in which the ceramic slurry is thrown down to the whole body of the carrier 5 and the ceramic film is uniformly formed on the whole body of the carrier 5 by removing the excess slurry, drying and calcining the ceramic slurry. When repeating the drying and calcining processes, the thickness of the ceramic can be freely regulated.
